I have been practicing canine massage therapy since 2005. The use of this therapy has been well documented throughout history.
The value and benefits of animal massage had been written and published in the late 1800's by an English veterinarian, M. Horace Hayes.
Over time, with new medical drugs and surgical procedures, massage therapy was "pushed off to the side" when discussing helathcare regimens for animals.
Recently, many veterinarians across the country are once again recognizing and acknowledging that massage is beneficial in promoting general health and helping to keep the dog's body in better physical condition.
Today, canine massage therapy encompasses many techniques used for a variety of purposes. The technique I practice is "Sports Massage". It utilizes classic Swedish massage as well as other techniques designed specifically for their beneficial impact on muscular tissue.
